A K Kukkila

A.K. Kukkila is the editor of Sanmaarga Kannada Weekly for over a decade and the 2019 recipient of Muslim Sahitya Prashasti.

Early Life and Career

Mr. A.K. Kukkila was born on 1^st June, 1974 to parents Mohammed Beary and Asiyamma at Etala Padnoor, Bantwal. After completing his schooling, he pursued his higher education at Yeyyadi Government Institute. Born in a poor household, A.K. had to struggle a lot to pursue his studies. He had to work everyday rolling beedis, peeling areca nuts, and other jobs to afford his high school. Later on, he started working in a well making industry in Puttur followed by a mini bus conductor in Uppinagady, assistant painter, spare parts salesman, and on. He often tried his hand at writing, although little came from his early efforts. To chase his dreams, he joined Sanmarga Newspaper. After more than a decade of work experience, Mr. A.K. Kukkila became the chief editor of Sanmarga Newspaper. He is the writer of weekly articles Ankanabaraha and Sampadhakeeya. He is also the editor of Jayakirana evening newspaper. He has released 6 compositions and one of his famous compositions titled Dhahira Katha received critical acclaim.

Social Concern and Contributions

Mr A.K. Kukkila is an excellent orator. He has participated in television debates and spoke on various occasions aired in more than 50 famous TV channels such as TV9, Suvarna News, Public TV, Namma TV, V4, Spandhana TV, Raj News Bangalore, Medium One Malayalam etc. He wholeheartedly works for different magazines, newspapers and authors books in a very punctual and dedicated manner. He has delivered excellent speeches on youth, social issues, humanity, community development etc, and more topics during various gatherings and programs conducted by different organizations and institutions to inspire the youth and make society a better place to live in.

His popular works include Dhahira, Jaagatikarana Mattu Samskruti, Chaatiyetu, Madhyapaana Para, Virodha Mattu Nija, and Sarasa Sallapa.

“I come from a rural village. There are many talented people in the rural sector who deserve recognition but fail to get it due to a number of factors. This is one of the major problems faced by our community. A proper solution to this problem will help every member of the community to be at the contributing end.”

“People from the masjid collect a lot of money from the poor people for masjid maintenance and management. Government must provide subsidy & support for domestic farming in every household.
