Early life and Career
Mr. Mansoor Ahamed was born on 31st October, 1970 to parents Haji M.K. Miqdad and S. Zohara at Mangalore. Having completed his schooling at Rozario high School and Badriya School, he pursued his higher education at St. Aloysius Evening College. His father owned a Kerosene Trading company named Azad trading company. Raised in frugal living conditions right from an early age, he was aware of the marginal income of his father and huge expenses. In the year 1987, the Azad trading company experienced a major market loss leaving behind a sum of 30,000 rupees. Fiery instinct, futuristic outlook, indomitable will, and a burning passion was all that Mr. Mansoor Ahmed had when he set out to work his way for a living way back in 1987.The 16 year old Mansoor and his father started a hardware company.
However, due to company management and impoverished living conditions, he had to attend evening college. He had to struggle a lot for the company and had to do perform labor, loading and unloading, steel-metal cutting all by himself. Soon he took to speculative trading in all sorts of goods and made profitable deals, a fact which made his competitors think of him as having a strategic setup towards trade. It was through his zeal and invincible spirit of conquering the universe that he transformed his men from clay into steel and helped them attain the pinnacle of success. A company with a capital of merely 30,000 rupees now produces a 100 crore turn over year by year. This is the result of Mr. Mansoor’s immense hard work, adaptability, commitment, honesty and faith that made him lead his venture towards success.
He was the mastermind, the initiator, and the visualizer behind Azad group. Starting off as a hardware company dealer, he wrote history by establishing Azad group of companies at the grass-root level, making it one of the largest business conglomerates in Karnataka. Azad group of companies comprises of Azad Hardware, Azad steel, Azad and company, Azad fisheries, Bluemoon bottling Company, and is credited with being the leading iron and steel trading group in Mangalore. Azad Group collaborated with top brands such as TATA, TESCON, TMT BOSS, JSW Steel which makes it the best out of among the other companies. Azad Steel Company is the only dealer of TATA Bluescope color coated sheet in Mangalore and produces iron products starting from minute nails to huge iron beams.
Setting up a hardware company in today’s competitive world is not an easy task. Many people talk about aspiration, but Mr. Mansoor is a living example for excellent business acumen and never-say-die spirit which made Azad group one of the topmost business empires in the country.

Mr. Mansoor Ahmed is a man of social deeds and always had a desire to work for the welfare of the community. His philosophy in life is to satisfy the people of the community through his immense contributions. Mansoor’s father Haji M.K. Miqdad is the founder member of Melkar Women’s College. Melkar Women’s College initially started functioning with 40 students and now it has arose to become a revolutionary aspect in the field of education by providing quality and standard education for over 900 students resulting in rank holders. This is a major contribution in the field of women’s education and empowerment.
Mr. Mansoor Ahmed is a member of Talent Research Foundation and Hidayah foundation. He is the vice president of D.K. Zilla Muslim Association and along with friends formed a group and started working for the betterment of the society. Be it through feeding the needy, supporting the poor, educating the deserving, helping find employment, and many other acts of simplicity, Mr. Mansoor surely is a wonderful human being.
