Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil
Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil is the president of Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF), a popular, charity oriented community service organization.
Early Life and Career
Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil was born on 1st June, 1957 to parents GM Hasainar and Aysha at Someshwar-Uchil, Mangalore. Having completed his school education at Bovis Elementary School and Govt. Fisheries High School, he pursued his higher education at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. In the year 1980, a young and inspired Mohammed Ali joined Ullal block congress as a secretary. To chase his dreams, in 1985 he went to Abu Dhabi and began working as a manager for Spark EST. Presently, he is working as Director for Oil and Gas division at ARM Pvt. Ltd.
BWF and Contributions
In the year 2004, with the intention of uniting and connecting members of the Beary Community in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil along with his friends and concerned individuals established “BEARYS WELFARE FORUM, ABU DHABI” to foster cooperation and a collaborative effort to help the community in any way possible. Mohammed Ali Uchil served as the founder – president of the organization from its inception and continues to do so till date.
Apart from promoting Beary language, literature, culture, and tradition in The Gulf, Bearys Welfare Forum is well known for its charity work in Coastal Karnataka. BWF has been for 10 years conducting mass marriages for financially backward families with number of beneficiaries crossing hundreds. To provide clean sanitation facilities to the masses, Bearys Welfare Forum undertook the construction of numerous toilets in DK and Udupi district. Anti-Dowry campaign, distribution of wheel chairs for the physically challenged, sponsoring and felicitating meritorious students and providing scholarships are some among the many notable contributions of BWF under the able leadership of Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil in Coastal Karnataka.
Social Concern
Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil always had a desire in him to work for the welfare of his community and see his community reach great heights. His philosophy in life is to serve society at any cost, in the best possible way. Be it through feeding the needy, supporting the poor, educating the deserving, helping find employment, and many other acts of kindness. He renders these to be his short term goals while long term goals seek to attain his vision of an empowered community. His long term plan is to educate the community professionally, target top level employment, make optimum use of resources available, empower women and incorporate them in the forefront, adopt a moderate outlook and approach towards problem solving, make as well as keep peace, inculcate discipline throughout the community, strive for the rights of the community, social justice, and against discrimination of all kind. Mr. Uchil vocalizes his opinion that the best way to enrich any community is through education, not merely a degree but qualitative, holistic education which involves skill, and the manner in which we interact with one another.
Mr. Mohammed Ali Uchil believes in the power and potential of the youth and encourages their ideas for development of the nation. He is a prompt supporter of education and helps create employment opportunities. He says that Muslims need to understand that Islam is a beautiful way of life and wants to see the youth use their full potential for the betterment of the community and to achieve this dream of his, he also plays the role of a motivator, guiding as many youth he can in ways of empowerment and community development.
VISION
Mr. Uchil’s philosophy & vision in life is – Serving the society in the best possible way – like feeding the needy, helping a poor girl get married, educating a boy, build a house for the homeless, helping a need patient, building a toilet, supporting someone get employed – is a short term plan.
The long term plan is to get community members highly educated, target top level employment opportunities, make best use of resources for economic development, engage women folks too in education, strike peace deals and develop goodwill with the majority community, adopt religion to practice rather than preach, be moderate in approach toward problem solving and not extreme, inculcate discipline among community members, make best use of technology and modern education, fight against discrimination, and keep unity in diversity.
Interests and Associations
Apart from being a hard working professional and dedicated philanthropist, Mr. Uchil takes pleasure in fishing and meeting new people and as he likes to call it, “binding hearts”. His interests in the field of politics and social work took him a long way in his career and helped establish himself as the noble man that he is today.
Mr. Mohammed Ali also serves as the Chairman for GMH Charitable Foundation and is a respectable member of various social groups and welfare associations, some being – Karnataka NRI (KNRI) Association under the government of Karnataka, Al Wafa Charitable Trust, Indian Social & Cultural Centre, Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Indian Business and Professional Group, Karnataka Sangha, OIC Abu Dhabi and more.
